artspace is pleased to present "That Elusive Feeling," University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth - MFA Studio Candidates Exhibition,
opening on Friday, January 25, 2013, from 7-10pm and continuing through Sunday, February 17, 2013. Artists: Jo Anna Hickman, Jessica Hiekes, Mikelle Lindsey, Russell Prigodich, Denise Sokolsky, Jodi Stevens.
That Elusive Feeling is a combination of 2D and 3D work by Jo Anna Hickman, Jessica Hiekes, Mikelle Lindsey, Denise Sokolsky, Russell Prigodich, and Jodi Stevens. Mikelle Lindsey, curator of the exhibition states: "That Elusive Feeling explores the abstract, mysterious, indescribable moments we encounter daily. These moments may be subtle and obscure though simultaneously familiar. This show explores the outpouring of emotion, texture, movement, and physicality with in our day to day. It is this outpouring, this surge of sensation, tense and tight, full and overflowing that ignites us. This is a dynamic, assertive and thoughtful show." The artists that have been selected are visual examples of the new ways artists are stretching and crossing boundaries with material. They inspire thought for the critic and viewer, while stimulating questions and ideas about the relationship between art, responsibility, awareness and the community. Jo Anna Hickman is an on-leave member of artspace as she completes her graduate degree.
