Annette Norman

Born and raised in Belgium, Annette Norman attended the Gaevart photography school in Mortsel, Belgium, and thereafter worked as a commercial photographer. After she immigrated to the United States in her twenties, she taught French and pursued studies in Art history, painting and printmaking. The last few years, inspired by her grandfather, a master photographer and bromoilist, she has chosen bromoil, the old pigment photographic process as one of her major media for self expression.

Annette has exhibited her works in a number of group shows:

  • E. Holden Gallery, Waren Wilson College, Ashville , NC
  • Charles Taylor Art Center, Hampton
  • Peninsuala Fine Arts Center, Newport News
  • Augusta Arts Center, Staunton
  • McGuffy Art Center, Charlottesville
  • Shockoe Bottom Art center, the gallery at the Jewish Community Center, for its "miniatures show," The James Center and Artspace

Annette's work was on display at Artspace in January, 2003 in "Landscapes," the inaugural show in our Upstairs Gallery while still at 6 E. Broad St.

Annette is a member of the Virginia Society for the Photographic Arts (VSPA) , The Photographic Art Network (PAN) and the Focus Group Camera Club
