"My art starts with studying significant contemporary social issues, from which I generate ideas, develop themes and create images. During the past two years I have concentrated on creating digital photographs, often manipulating images using digital collage, layering, and mirroring techniques. To me, a successful artwork opens viewers to interpretation and active discussion. Often, at installations or exhibitions I can be found engaging viewers in conversation about the work, in hopes of building community through mutual understanding.
My appreciation for the power of art has grown over the years, as I have become engaged in community-based art and photography. In 2019, I completed an MFA at VCU, and since then have established a studio on Broad Street in Richmond, VA.
