Pushing the Limits is a juried biennial fiber exhibition juried and curated by Katherine Shaw and coordinated and organized by Mary Buchanan and Heidi Field-Alvarez, two artspace members that work in fiber-related media. This exhibition will continue through September 23, 2012. There will be an August Fourth Friday reception on August 24, 2012 from 7-10pm.The show aims to expand the definition of fiber work within contemporary art while providing a venue for established and emerging artists to exhibit.


ABOUT THE JUROR

KATHERINE SHAW attended North Carolina School of the Arts in the early 1990s. In 1997 she received a BFA in Sculpture with a minor in Printmaking from Virginia Commonwealth University. Shaw received a MFA in Sculpture with concentrations in Printmaking and Textiles from Cranbrook Academy of Art in 1999. Katie currently resides in Richmond, VA. She is curator to the Flippo Gallery and Adjunct Professor of Art at Randolph-Macon College in Ashland, VA. She has exhibited her work at university and non-profit galleries in Virginia, Pennsylvania, Oklahoma, Colorado, and Brooklyn, NY.
