Artspace is pleased to present radius250 2013. The exhibition opens on Friday, June 28th 7-10pm (with a preceding Juror Talk and Awards Ceremony 6-7pm). There is a mid-show reception on Friday, July 26 from 7-10pm. The show continues through Sunday, August 18th, 2013. This is the fifth installment of the juried exhibition that represents artists creating within 250 miles of Richmond, VA.

The juror for radius250 is N. Elizabeth Schlatter, Deputy Director and Curator of Exhibitions at the University of Richmond Museums, Virginia, where she has curated more than 20 exhibitions. Ms. Schlatter additionally organizes exhibitions for contemporary art spaces in the Mid-Atlantic region and has authored articles and reviews for Focus and Photovision magazines, the National Women in the Arts Bulletin and the American National Biography (Oxford University Press).

radius250 is a signature exhibition of Artspace, highlighting and representing the talent of the Mid-Atlantic region. Selected works this year include painting, drawing, sculpture and installation pieces. One hundred twenty-seven artists submitted work with over 450 individual submissions. Of those, forty-eight pieces were selected from thirty-six artists. The exhibition will be in all galleries of Artspace, including the Main, Helena Davis, Frable, Suzanne Foley and smallspace Galleries. Several prizes will be awarded by the juror; including a solo exhibition in our Helena Davis Gallery.

ARTSPACE is a non-profit, member-run gallery, which has been in existence since 1988. It has become an urban pioneer, moving to and improving "undiscovered" areas of Richmond. One of the most beautiful gallery spaces in Richmond and Virginia, Artspace exhibits works by regional, national, and international artists.

Plant Zero, thehome of Artspace, houses sixty studios for working artists, a Cafe, event space, and offices for area arts-focused, non-profit organizations. Plant Zero takes up an entire block in the Manchester Arts District, which was primarily an industrial area until 2004. Manchester is just acrossthe James River from Shockoe Slip and Shockoe Bottom, historic districts that have longbeen favorite destinations for visitors.
