Artspace member Catherine D. Johnson will be showing "Partz" in the smallspace Gallery. These photographs show whimsical compositions of close-up observations of her highly prized show and therapy dogs. Catherine states: "an owner of dogs, I am no different, in that I observe their behavior on a daily basis. Each dog has a different set of interactions with the other dogs. Each have their own favorite places to nap or sit and observe the world through my glass front door. They range in age from six to fifteen years and don�t seem to have a hierarchy. However, as a photographer, I observed more than their behaviors. I actually watched their positions when they were at rest. While doing this I noticed the positions of their heads, bodies, feet and tails and started to take pictures of these 'partz.' I photographed a number of these positions, which resulted in this show."

Catherine Johnson has been exhibiting her photography at Artspace and other Richmond galleries for the past twenty-five years. Catherine works in both traditional and digital photography.
